The theme of this new year for my husband and I has been embracing simplicity. We have been asking ourselves, “how can we pair down our stuff?” and “how can we pair down our lives?” Our desire is to live intentionally and freely without the weight of needless things. I think a lot of this attitude is coming in lieu of a move. We haven’t re-signed our lease so we will be moving in a couple of months and the task of packing up our apartment is daunting. But it has led us to ask good questions of ourselves…we are moving into a minimal way of living and I am actually very happy about it.
It looks like we are in good company as well. I have come across several bloggers that have been pairing down their clothing to a “capsule wardrobe” size. I think it is pretty awesome to see 20-year-olds realizing their materialism and deciding to simplify. Honestly, I think our lives can be so overwhelming and the benefit of not having much stuff is you don’t have to take care of much stuff.
Now, this applies to you because I have been planning what kinds of things will be going on here at the Emma Will blog. This year I am going to give more time to Emma Will across the board. I have had so many ideas I haven’t taken the initiative to put into action and I have been frustrated on how thinly I have felt spread this year. So, hopefully, my intentions to live minimally and intentionally will overflow into this space.
To give you an idea of what I have in mind, here are some topics I am planning to cover:
Make-up Bag Make-over
Cleaning Supply DIY
My Capsule Wardrobe
Art Supply Reviews/Demos
Various Other Minimal Living Posts– I’ll update you on how our efforts are
I don’t know what all of this will look like, but I am looking forward to all of it. If you have any recommendations or posts that you would like to see, please let me know in the comments! I love hearing your feedback.
Hope your 2015 is off to an introspective start as well!
