I have a quote to share today. I found it over a year ago and I’ve forgotten where I found it now, but it has been patiently waiting in my notes. Every time I flip through to read it, it always quiets this proud heart.
“One of the highest duties is the duty of encouragement. It is easy to laugh at men’s ideas; it is easy to pour cold water on their enthusiasm; it is easy to discourage others. The world is full of discouragers. We have a Christian duty to encourage one another. Many a time a word of praise or thanks or appreciation or cheer has kept a man on his feet. Blessed is the man (or woman) who speaks such a word.”
This need for encouragement has been acutely aware to me on so many levels of my heart recently. I don’t only thrive off of encouragement from my husband, friends, and family, but also from myself. And a lot of times when I cannot muster the belief that supports the compliment in my own heart, God has filled his word with encouragement for the believer. I find that when I am not remembering His word I am much more critical.
So read this:
“‘For the mountains may depart

says the Lord who has compassion
‘O afflicted one, storm-tossed and not
behold, I will set your stones in
and lay your foundations with
If you read all of Isaiah 54 it is even sweeter. I hope you can be encouraged today, friend. Pursue what is worth pursuing, even if you aren’t good at it at the start.
